Vanilla 2 ProxyConnect SSO and Hotaru CMS

Just wondering has anyone successfully connected to HotaruCMS to Vanilla 2 using new Proxy Connect?

Okay I did more reading at http://vanillaforums.org/wiki/page/SingleSignOn
The main issue is creating the Authenticate URL
I just need to pull out USER ID, USERNAME and EMAIL into a PHP page

Has anyone had success with SSO and could give some tips. I want to make sure it is secure.
