View Full Version : Javascript sliding story-submission panel?
I use the script below for bit.ly which slides out a panel to fill in and auto-post to Twitter. I have the script in my bookmarks toolbar and hit it to open the panel while viewing the page I want to submit to bit.ly. I would find it immensely helpful in Hotaru. Has anyone made something like it?
I would also like to wrap it in a button that sites could use for share functions.
javascript:var%20e=document.createElement('script' );e.setAttribute('language','javascript');e.setAtt ribute('src','http://bit.ly/bookmarklet/load.js');document.body.appendChild(e);void(0);

Something like the Bookmarklet (http://forums.hotarucms.org/showthread.php?283-Bookmarklet-0.2&highlight=share+bookmark)?
That's a good step in the right direction, but I was thinking of something more like this:

That is, a panel that would slide out from the right side of the browser window and have some branding from your site on it across the top, with the logged-in user's avatar and user name.
Then below that the fields to fill in and a "next" button. I would design it so that when the "next" button was pushed, the fields would fade out to be replaced with the post submission, so it was clear that the user was about to confirm what he's written.
Once he hits confirm, any of a number of widgets might fade in to lure him back to your site, or show some advertising, etc.
Actually, now that I look at this mock-up, I would change the dimensions, make it slightly wider and not so tall. I guess so that when the "next" button was pushed, you could get the same "This is what your post will look like" notice.
Something like that. i'm sure that's a more advanced thing, but I'd love one! )
