As a newbie here with no php coding knowledge (although when reading code i can often figure out some things) and also virtually no knowledge of Hotaru and its plugins I have some observations that the mods/developers might (or might not) consider.
Hotaru was easy to upload and plugins are easy to add. CSS is moderately easy to change when you can work out what relates to where - although some still have me perplexed. Its probably the easiest software set up I've ever encountered.
But, there is huge assumption on the forums that everyone understands php and where to make the changes. I've been completely baffled by some answers involving php and sometimes answers to questions seem very slow to come. When building (or in my case, adding to an existing) website, time can be important.
I've had my members test Hotaru in a live situation and its mostly working quite well, and my members seem to like it, but there is one thing I can't get an answer to or figure out (and yes its posted on the appropriate forum), and that is holding us back.
I do appreciate that Hotaru is free, (as is my website and its contents), and the work that has gone into producing a very nice piece of software. :D
I'll be looking for some other tweaks later but not until I can get the basics sorted.
