Hotaru's Potential?

Hi all,
I am using Hotaru @ (*removed link) a media site.
This is far best cms I have seen light weight and can blend into anything with plugins, so I am making a list of well known sites that Hotaru can become.

My list of sites(clones may be) that can be built with Hotaru CMS
1. Digg like - check demo
2. retailmenot (coupon site)
3. hubpages (revenue share included)
4. FML (with submit no links+some modifications)
5. Microblog (mod reqd.) - check journal demo
6. Feed Aggregator
7. Stackoverflow or OSQA (mod required)
8. Magazine theme (check out demo)
9. Flash Game Site (Check this thread (http://forums.hotarucms.org/showthread.php?909-Embed-SWF-Games-Files-Automatically))

Green colored are already done.

Those demo's look really cool Nick, especially the Magazine functionality. Would that be essentially a more powerful Journal plugin and would the 2 feature sets for the Magazine and Journal plugins overlap?

Hi baadier, I've answered your question as a blog post (http://forums.hotarucms.org/entry.php?92-New-Hotaru-Demos-Page). In a nutshell, you can use Journals with Bookmarking or Magazine, but you can't use both Bookmarking and Magazine together.

the main reason I like Hotaru is its active community and support. one more added....check 1st post

technically speaking, hotarucms is a fresh concept software, wich explore a successful niche market. but i pretty sure hotaru willl have big trouble when it got old and fat.
major functions are being treated separately.

Is this in reference to the large number of plugins available?
Wordpress has a lot more plugins then Hotaru CMS but it also does have a lot of functionality in its core. Hotaru CMS has plugins which carry out functionality you might expect in the core, which we call for convenience sake, core plugins. They are no different to other plugins but we feel they are required by most people.

I dont think Hotaru CMS will get old and fat on its core. I hope it can fatten up on plugins more than now although we currently have over 100
