Today I upgraded our demo site at BloggerTools.net to the latest beta version of Hotaru 1.3. The main areas we're working on are installation, speed and plugin independence. Believe it or not, but BloggerTools no longer uses SB Base! My son's a fan of Bob the Builder, a British kids show about a team of construction vehicles and their leader, Bob. In every episode, all the characters chant "Can we fix it? Yes, we can!" So I've had the theme song for that in my head this last week while doing my best to fix all the bugs that have surfaced since putting JapanSoc on Hotaru. There are still a few more bugs and loose ends I want to sort out, and that's delaying things a bit, but I have the whole day free tomorrow ...
A quick post before I take a break... As you can tell by now, I've upgraded the forums to a beta version of vBulletin 4. The front page is a bit bare, but that will fill out soon. More importantly, I've now uploaded all the new plugins to their respective threads - about 30 of them (phew!), including the Social Bookmarking Suite that contains most of what you need in a single download. So what's left? Well, the next step is to post about and upload the Hotaru 0.8 Beta .zip ...
Having finished up 0.5 Alpha this weekend, I feel as though the bulk of the work is behind me and now I can focus on the details, such as fixing bugs and making improvements here and there. Two things I want to do for the core are fix the plugin upgrade issue posted here, and add an exclude option to the check_actions plugin function.
