  1. A Year After Coding Began

We've passed a couple of noteworthy milestones this week which I thought I'd highlight.

June 18th marked one year since work began on Hotaru CMS. I was talking with Alan (shibuya) about whether this means Hotaru is one-year old, and we both agreed that it isn't - that would be a year after Hotaru was first released, not when coding started. Even still, I'm very happy that development hasn't slowed down one bit in the last 12 months.

In fact, June 23rd saw the 2,000th commit ...

My son's a fan of Bob the Builder, a British kids show about a team of construction vehicles and their leader, Bob. In every episode, all the characters chant "Can we fix it? Yes, we can!"

So I've had the theme song for that in my head this last week while doing my best to fix all the bugs that have surfaced since putting JapanSoc on Hotaru. There are still a few more bugs and loose ends I want to sort out, and that's delaying things a bit, but I have the whole day free tomorrow ...
  4. Alpha Unleashed!

A couple of days early, but I made the Hotaru Alpha download available here, which officially marks the start of the project. Until now, I've been making changes on the fly, copying each one across from the alpha branch to the trunk as I go.

That changes a bit now. I've renamed the "alpha branch" to 0.1 and will be working solely on that for bug fixes and a 0.2 branch for development until I have something significant enough to move to the trunk and then release as another ...
