Default Adding Post Images to Related Posts and Posts Widget

Howdy folks. I have the need for some modification to existing plugins, and I'd like to make a $50 offer for the project. I believe some other people in this community have asked for the same capabilities, so I would definitely want the result of this project to go back to the community for everyone to use. The customization should be done in such a way that it can be added to the existing plugins, but not force people to use it. So some sort of option to enable / disable would be best (maybe in Post Images?).

If you look at this example page :
    http://links.gunaxin.com/humor/your-...-twitter-page/

You can see that I use 75x75 pixel thumbnails for my posts, utilizing the Post Images plugin (which btw, I originally sponsored as well). I also utilize the Related Posts plugin, and the Posts Widgets. I'd like to have those thumbnails shown in those two instances as well. So it would take adding the thumbnails, and then I guess maybe some styling and such to make it look decent (which each install would probably just handle on their own). I'm not really sure how complicated this is, but it seems relatively simple, so I think the $50 is a fair offer.

Let me know if you are interested, and if you have any question on specifics, but hopefully the ideas is fairly self explanatory.

I've made updates to the Related Posts and Post Images plugin to enable you to use the images in the Related Posts plugin (enable it in Post Images settings).

The image is currently the same size (75px square), do you think it should be smaller? It would probably only be scaled in HTML if so.

I haven't done Post Widget yet, I guess the image there really should be scaled?

Sweet. I'm downloading now and will install and test. One thing I suppose I should have mentioned more clearly. I use 75x75 thumbs, but other people might use other sizes obviously, so I guess it needs to be flexible enough to handle that some how. I was thinking the image may need to be smaller, but I'd play with that when styling (and I assume each site would have to make their own determination)

I'd do the Post Widget the same way, and let people scale the images down as required on their own. In my case, I'd probably go with just 5 posts in the widget, and size the vote # and title appropriately to work with the thumbnail.

I've tested with Nick's tweaked version, and for the most part things look good :

One comment though, the Thumbnail should link to the post. I could fix this myself, but figure it should be that way in the official release, as well as the Posts Widgets. Having the thumbnails helps encourage clicks, but if the thumb isn't a link, it somewhat defeats the purpose. Other than that, I think we're progressing well. Thanks!

Good point, I've uploaded a new version which allows the image to be clicked through to the post.

I don't think it make any sense to add options to the settings that scale the image as it wouldn't be true scaling anyway, rather scaling with HTML/CSS, as I don't think it makes any sense to scale the images properly as the overhead cost of truly resizing 5+ images with PHP per page is probably far greater than the wasted bandwidth cost of sending a 75px thumbnail to the user and scaling it down a few pixels.

I've added a line to the CSS anyway that should make it more obvious for people using firebug how to scale the image.

    Mabujo,

Just wanted to check in and see if you've made any progress on the Posts Widgets portion of this task. I know you've been working on your theme thing, but I didn't want you to forget this, so I can get you that payment

Yes I have been busy but haven't forgotten!
I have it working on my dev install, I just need to polish it up a bit and then I will release it.

I've uploaded the version of the posts widgets plugin which allows you to use the post images.
You'll need to grab the new version of the post images plugin too.
Please test and let me know how it goes.

Sorry for the delay, as I was away for the weekend. Just installed and tested tonight, and everything looks good. Send me a message with your Paypal info, if that works for you. Thanks for your help Mabujo.
