    Question Categories listed

    Hello,

I am brand new at this and am very excited about it! Everything is looking great!

My question today is, I have entered a number of categories (13) and some sub-categories.
But on my home page, only four main categories (and their subs) show up.

Is there a way to show all of the categories on the home page?

Sorry for my naivety, but I really do appreciate your time!

    Thanks,
    Tom

You can only have one level of child categories with the Categories plugin:

    parent
    - child 1
    - child 2
    parent 2
    - child 3
    parent 3
    - child 4
    - - grandchild 1 <-- THIS WON'T WORK.

Confusingly, Category Manager actually allows you to add grandchildren, but more confusingly it shows them as regular children (it's a bug). You should be able to undo any "grandchildren" by moving them up to "main" categories and then reinserting them as children.

    Hi Nick,

Wow! Thanks for the super-hyper-quick response!!

I'll try to be a bit more clear,

My categories look like this on my home page: (ignoring sub-categories for now)

    Cat 1 Cat 2 Cat 3 Cat 4

    What I'm looking for is:

Cat 1 Cat 2 Cat 3 Cat 4 Cat 5 Cat 6 Cat 7 Cat 8 etc. till I have all thirteen parents.

    Thanks again!

    Tom

Ok now I see where the other categories are. They are listed in the fourth category drop down - as if they were children. This is not right because they are their own top level categories. hmmm...

Right, so you're saying you've put in 13 main categories, but only 4 are showing up.

And I'm saying that somewhere you've probably triggered that annoying grandchild bug, which is preventing the other categories from showing.

Edit: So you need to move those "hidden" categories up to "main" categories, and then back into sub-categories to free them up again

    Hi,

I would like to have 3 levels categories on my site. With 2 levels is working as a charm. But when I want to do it trough category manager (Add a Child Category to a Child Category), the created category is showing as a 2 level and not as a third level. What's is going wrong?

    Thank you for your time,

    Alex
