Hmmm... I see now the problem only happens when I use the www in front of my url address. www.example.com/rsnews (rsnews is my hotaru main page subdirectory) redirects the browser to my wordpress blog main page at example.com. However, using example.com/rsnews without the leading www. correctly displays the hotaru home page at example.com/rsnews.

I'm guessing its because of the .htaccess statements on changing the domain from www.example.com to example.com?

If you have Wordpress on example.com and Hotaru on example.com/rsnews, Wordpress will try to behave Hotaru as a page with permalink 'rsnews' belonging to itself. You should use subdomains for such applications, e.g:

    rsnews.example.com

Okay, I setup the subdomain as you suggested.

Do I change the "RewriteBase /rsnews" statement in the .htaccess file or leave it as-is?

And thanks for the reply, btw. :-)

I figured it out after a few trials: Updated the base url in hotaru_settings.php and changed the .htaccess statement back to "RewriteBase /". The issues are resolved.

    Thanks!

Yikes! Now I can't login with my admin id. When I enter my id and password and click the Login button it redirects to the main page without being logged-in. I also tried another user account I created and that won't work either.

Which settings change have I missed?

I was able to register and login to your website. I could not access the admin, naturally

Try to clean your cookies or use another browser.

How embarrassing! :-p Yes, clearing cookies in Firefox did the trick.

    Thanks PuckRobin!
