    Hey,
I have a suggestion for the submit plugin. Why don't you make a option to separate the description in few fields(sections). Or make another plugin for adding sections.

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for your reply.

    Ok here more info.
I did enable the DEBUG but sill I get the blank page.

    From the system report:
    1. The error like I mentioned in my first post (you can see it on the screenshot)
    2. Hotaru version: 1.4.1
    3. PHP version: 5.2.14
    4. Default theme
    5. Do I have to put the plugin list here?
    6. I think the problem is due to the Submit plugin or the Post Images plugin (installed the last version 0.8)

I'm sorry but I didn't try a lot because I don't know nothing about PHP.
Actually my site is offline (still in developing stage) but it's now online/ open to test.

Hope this is enough information for you.

    Thanks!

I registered on your site and submitted a post without problem. There's nothing more I can do without an example of a link that doesn't work and your plugin list.

Nice looking site by the way. One observation: Your site is accessible via both www and non-www. That will likely cause problems. Choose one and redirect the other to it. (The default .htaccess file shows how to redirect www to non-www), and make sure your BASEURL in hotaru_settings matches the one you choose.

    Hi Nick, thanks!

Ok I changed the .htaccess file from none-www to www, I read the instructions in the url redirecting thread. And also changed the BASEURL in the hotaru_settings.

Here is an example link that doesn't work.

    Here is my plugin list:

Okay, I see the error, but we don't yet know what plugin is causing it. Categories, Tags, Comments and Post Images all hook into the Submit plugin. So if I were you, I'd disable those plugins and try again. Then re-enable each plugin one-by-one until you you get the error again.

Nick I'm sorry to keep bothering you but I disabled all those plugins you mentioned and still the same error.
I also removed all cookies and cleared all cache folders to test, but still no change.

I can't duplicate this on my test site. I wonder if your tempdata table is corrupt or something? Try emptying it in phpMyAdmin to see if it makes a difference.

You might also try disabling Submit Light.

    Submit Error

    Hey Everybody,

So I found an error that should be simple to fix. When I was testing the "Submit" process, I noticed that if you try to submit something without entering a URL during step 1, instead of a nice "You Forgot to Enter a URL" (or similar) message, I go to a page with the following:

Warning: parse_url(http://) [function.parse-url]: Unable to parse URL in /home/site/public_html/hotaru/functions/funcs.strings.php on line 532

Warning: parse_url(http://) [function.parse-url]: Unable to parse URL in /home/site/public_html/hotaru/content/plugins/submit/libs/SubmitFunctions.php on line 715

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/site/public_html/hotaru/functions/funcs.strings.php:532) in /home/site/public_html/hotaru/content/plugins/submit/submit.php on line 218

I have this site installed on a subdomain of my pligg site and I am fixing it up to get it ready for a transfer. The only thing I have changed about Submit Step 1 (aside from some of the language) is I added "http://" to the inside of the URL box. I have also enabled "Post without URL," but I would like it if I was returned back to the Step 1 page if someone forgot to enter a URL or check the box. Any Ideas on what's causing this?

That's another issue I can't duplicate. When I submit an empty url, I get an "Invalid URL" message. If I submit just "http://", it proceeds to step 2 without any errors.

This is a problem with where I put the "http://" in the URL box.

When I remove that phrase, this works perfectly. Do you know where I am supposed to place "http://" in the submit step 1.php file? I will keep troubleshooting until someone can answer.

    Thanks Nick.

Actually, I take that back. If I only enter "http://" into the box, I get the same error. For some reason, the site won't let me "parse" the URL when it's just "http://"

    Now I'm completely stumped

This post don't need to be in Plugin Downloads room, instead How-To and Troubleshooting?

Okay, I believe I figured out the solution to my problem.

I had migrated my site from Pligg over to Hotaru, and on my pligg site, when you write original articles (instead of bookmarks), the source URL is "http://"

I should have read the documentation that you graciously provide for hotaru, because I didn't even realize what "debug" did, I just left it on by default.

I was tired of my site members sending me emails complaining that they were just getting error screens for certain things, so I started trying to fix the errors.. The main reason I didn't want anyone to see those errors was because they contain my cpanel username, the names of folders, etc. (as you know).

So, I finally read the documentation today trying to learn about something else in the error logs, and sure enough all I had to do was turn off the debug.

I went back to the submit step one and entered "http://" as the URL to see what happens when an error screen doesn't show up, and pressed enter. It brought me to an original article (a well written one) from my pligg install! That's much nicer than an error screen!

Thank you Nick and everyone else involved with the development of Hotaru, and thank you Hotaru for being such a great CMS. Once again, a suitable enough (for me) fix was lightweight and simple, and this further reinforces the many reasons why I am happy to have left Pligg for a much nicer CMS. You guys are awesome.

Hi, is it possible to modify this script to also grab the description of a youtube video?

Has there already been a mod to this plugin to allow you to choose multiple categories?
